When using Outlook and POP to download your Gmail, GoogleMail or Google Apps emails, you’ll find that any emails sent from the Google webmail interface or from IMAP will be downloaded straight into your Outlook inbox.
This ensures that Outlook contains a record of all sent emails, wherever you’ve sent them from.
To get these emails in your Outlook sent mail folder, you’ll need to set up a filter:
- On Outlook’s main menu, select Tools > Rules and Alerts
- Click the New rule button
- Select “move messages from someone to a folder”, click Next
- In the bottom box, click “people or distribution list”
- In the field at the bottom enter your own email address, click OK.
- Click “Move to the specified folder” and select “Sent items”
- Click Next
- Tick “mark it as read”
- Click Next
- Tick “except if my name is in the To or CC box”
- Click Next
- Give this rule a name such as “Move Gmail sent mail”
- Click OK
